What Does Your Warehouse Need?

Pallet Jacks are the most used types of warehouse handling equipment. Even the smallest workshops and light industry companies have at least a hand pallet on hand to facilitate production.

Large companies usually have at least  two manual and electric models at hand, as well as forklifts.

Learning how each piece of equipment works will help you determine what is right for you.

Manual pallet trucks are ideal in situations where a single pallet must be moved a short distance. Because they are so easy and safe to use, even an un-trained worker can handle a pallet truck.Pallet Truck

Operating manual pallet jacks is very simple: Just insert the forks completely inside the palette, pump the handle until the blade clears the ground and pull it to where you need to go. Once there, just lower the forks using the release lever, which is usually located on the handle.

Learning to operate the machine is brilliantly easy, and can be mastered quickly and safely.

Electric models require a little more skill to use and are more dangerous than the manual models, but with a little training from an experienced operator, there will not be a steep learning curve. Core competencies involved include learning to use the different features of the truck.

Much like riding a bike or driving a car with a little practice, it becomes second nature.

The main danger posed by electric pallet rather than manual models is that they require more downtime. Also electric pallet jack operators are required to be certified OSHA in their operation.

In general, if you only need raise pallets at floor level and over short distances, hand pallet trucks will generally fit your needs. If you need to move heavy loads over long distances, an electric pallet may be a better choice.
